Ongoing recovery support
Appropriate aftercare is essential for supporting the abstinence based recovery focus created whilst in Detox 5. This can be within the community or perhaps a residential rehabilitation setting.
We acknowledge that an individual's recovery from addiction to opiates such as heroin and methadone entails a much longer journey than just the 5 day detox programme. Therefore a robust supervision plan from their named professional, carer and others will ultimately continue the successful recovery journey. We are very happy to provide support to anyone involved in the person’s ongoing care plan.
All clients have telephone access to a trained nurse at any point following their discharge from our centre. There is a nurse on-call over the weekend who will call all patients discharged that week. Our nurse will make the calls in the late morning or early afternoon on Saturday of that weekend, and then is available to take incoming calls from individuals and their supervisors via a mobile phone after those hours.
The following Monday patients go on to our Aftercare Support system. This telephone service offers support and advice at what is considered to be the most vulnerable period during their recovery. It is recommended to be used alongside any service that the patient may have accessed locally.
Best thing I ever done, the first 7 months were tough but with support from NA and a belief that life was getting better I've been able to maintain abstinence from all drugs. I am pleased to say that I'm clean and am very grateful to Detox 5 for making this possible.
