Lenny

Lenny is 23. He's single, but he has a 5 year old son and 3 year old daughter from two previous relationships. He hasn't seen his children for two years and misses them very much.

He left school when he was - almost - 16, and has been drinking and smoking cannabis since the age of 13. He has a tough time holding a job down and desperately wants to be clean so that he can provide for his children, properly. He's tried, a few times, but it's always been painful. Matt is 32. He works hard, in the City, in a high-powered finance job. He lives well, and has a beautiful home where he spends what little free time he has, partying with friends.

Recently, he's lost two things. The chance of a promotion he thought he'd worked hard for, and his long-time girlfriend. He knows that his cocaine-addiction is responsible for both, and that it's getting harder to hide the signs of his dependency in his every day life. He doesn't worry about the cost of getting clean, but he is worried about taking weeks out of his working life to do it. Kendra

Linda is a mother whose 19 year old daughter, Kendra, is addicted to heroin. Linda blames herself, as Kendra's father died many years ago and Kendra has been very independent, since. She mixes with a crowd of youngsters who all have criminal convictions, and Linda is worried that Kendra has begun feeding her habit through petty crime.

Kendra is bright, and Linda has talked to her about getting clean. Kendra is worried about the process, and to make matters worse she is starting to show signs of paranoia in her daily life.
